DESCRIPTION:The English Language LGBT Book Club has launched an LGBT Sci-Fi book club group\, that will meet once a month. \nThe LGBT Sci-Fi & Fantasy group of the English Language LGBT Book Club Zurich\, will discuss this book today: \n„Black Sun“ by Rebecca RoanhorseThe first book in the Between Earth and Sky trilogy\, inspired by the civilizations of the Pre-Columbian Americas and woven into a tale of celestial prophecies\, political intrigue\, and forbidden magic. \nA god will returnWhen the earth and sky convergeUnder the black sun \nIn the holy city of Tova\, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal\, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse\, a rare celestial event proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world. \nMeanwhile\, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship\, Xiala\, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger. Described as harmless\, the passenger\, Serapio\, is a young man\, blind\, scarred\, and cloaked in destiny. As Xiala well knows\, when a man is described as harmless\, he usually ends up being a villain.**The event takes place in the rooms of the Regenbogenhaus\, which is open from 15h00-19h00 on Wednesdays. DESCRIPTION:Queermix: Queer EnglishDiscussion Group  \nQueermix is a loosely moderated English discussion group every first Wednesday of the month. The topics get suggested by the group and set in advance. If you want to know what the topic is\, you can ask in an email a week before the group. The event is held at the Regenbogenhaus Zürich (Rainbow House) in the Rooms: House of Books and House of Fluid. The group is open to all and any queer or questioning individuals. No registration necessary\, just drop by! \nThe group usually follows the same structure. It starts with general information and a greeting followed by an introduction round including names\, pronouns and everyone’s queer identity. Followed by a topic introduction and short input which leads to an open discussion lasting ca. 85 minutes\, with a 20-minute break in the middle. The group gets concluded with a Take-Away-Round. DESCRIPTION:The English Language LGBT Book Club has launched an LGBT Sci-Fi book club group\, that will meet once a month. \nThe LGBT Sci-Fi & Fantasy group of the English Language LGBT Book Club Zurich\, will discuss this book today: \n„The Island of Missing Trees“ by Elif ShafakA rich\, magical new book on belonging and identity\, love and trauma\, nature and renewal\, from the Booker shortlisted author of 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World.Two teenagers\, a Greek Cypriot and a Turkish Cypriot\, meet at a taverna on the island they both call home. In the taverna\, hidden beneath garlands of garlic\, chili peppers and creeping honeysuckle\, Kostas and Defne grow in their forbidden love for each other. A fig tree stretches through a cavity in the roof\, and this tree bears witness to their hushed\, happy meetings and eventually\, to their silent\, surreptitious departures.
